Lyaskovets municipality is situated in North Bulgaria at the foot of the Balkan Mountains. It is about 250 km northeast from Sofia and is adjacent to the towns of Veliko Turnovo and Gorna Oryahovitsa. On the southeast it is bordered by the Plateau of Arbanassi and on the northeast – by the river Yantra and the Danube Plain. Its altitude varies from192 to 250 m above sea-level. The climate is temperate continental. The population consists of 17 000 people, concentrated mainly in the town of Lyaskovets, which is the administrative center of the municipality. The other settlements on the territory are the villages of Dzhulyunitsa, Dobri dyal, Kozarevets, Dragizhevo and Merdanya.
The cultivated land in the municipality is 108,845 decares, used by 10 co-operative farms, associations and private farmers.
The major routes crossing the territory of the municipality are the motorways Sofia-Varna, Kardzhali-Rousse and the railway Gorna Oryahovitsa - Elena. The transport network is part of the agglomeration Veliko Turnovo - Lyaskovets - Gorna Oryahovitsa and comprises 15 towns and villages in the region with approximately 170 000 people. Lyaskovets municipality is adjacent to the railway junction and the international airport of Gorna Oryahovitsa.
