Historical Museum

It was created in 1952 and the present exposition was founded in 1971. The exposition reflects the town history since the Newstone Age.

It features 1000 exhibits on an area in three exhibition halls and three sections.

The Archeology Section presents the life in this area back to 7000 BC. Stone and bone implements, objects of worship and everyday life are put on display. There are lots of materials from the Neolith period (5000 BC). They were found in the near countryside called "The Forty Springs": stone axes, mattocks, adzes and others. The zoomorphic worship vessel, "the deer", the worship little table with a rack are also worth seeing.

The Thracians of the Bessie tribe brought the Bronze culture to the area of Asenovgrad. Their vessels reveal the development of their production power. The mining implements also rouse interest. There are some mound necropolises which enrich the exposition.

The Ethnography Section presents national dresses, ornaments, textiles and objects of everyday life.

The Revival Section

Photographs and personal belongings reveal the activity of the revolutionary committee, with leader Otton Ivanov.

The building is originally constructed in 1895
