The Ethnographical House

The house is an interesting ethnographical place in Asenovgrad. It has preserved the typical moments of the way of life in the 19th century. It was built at that time and it was a possession of a rich Greek tradesman from Stanimaka. After 1906 the house was a primary school for a while. It was built by masters from the town of Bratsigovo.

The yard is surrounded by high stone walls. There is a marble fountain in it from 1856. The house is with 2 floors with a wine-cellar. Outside the building is painted in blue. Every single room is painted in different colors. The ceilings, the doors and the closets are rich with wood-carving on them.

The display consists of man's and woman's clothes from the end of the XIX-th century. It also has a hand-organ, made by a local master. You can see there the pictures of the painter Kosta Forev, which "tell" us about the interesting local custom "Kalinitsa". There are well-arranged original exponents of dining-room, bedroom, parlors and other rooms in a typical style from the XIX-th century. There is a little exhibition of the local vine-growing and wine-producing industry from the antiquity to the 20th century in the wine-cellar.
