The Historical Museum in Zafirovo

The Historical Museum in the village of Zafirovo was founded in 1987 on the initiative of the Cultural club's administration. It is housed in a one-storey Romanesque building. The museum's curator is Mr. Roumen Lipchev, a museum worker from the District Museum in Silistra. The museum offers systemized information about the most important historical objects and events in the region.

The first hall displays primitive tools, a map of Roman provinces, a Roman road by the Danube and the remains of a Thracian mound form the village of Sokol. The second hall shows wooden tools, pottery and, hand-woven textile articles: aprons with traditional patterns, pillowslips, men's and women's folk costumes. The third hall contains systematized maps and written documents about important events during the Ottoman rule. The fourth and the largest hall contains mostly photographic evidence of the life of the local population up to 1985. The museum is now maintained by the Mayoralty of Zafirovo.
