Ivan Stefan

First son to King Michael III Shishman Assen and the Serbian Princess Ana-Neda Ivan Stefan was born in 1300 or 1301. In 1324 he was exiled to a monastery, together with his mother and brothers, but in the summer of 1330 he was restored to the Bulgarian throne, together with his mother. Being crowned by the Serbs, the threat of their excessive influence on Bulgarian provoked a coup in February - March 1331.

After the coup Ana-Neda, Ivan Stefan and his brothers, Michael, Shishman and Ludoviko, were forced to leave the kingdom and seek asylum in Serbia. There are no further records of his life.
