Glad is the first recorded ruler of Bdin. He was titled "tarkan" or "komit" and came from a proto-Bulgarian family.

Glad ruled over huge territories on both banks of the Danube river westwards to the Marosh river (today Hungary). He lived in the beginning of 10 century and was mentioned in relation to the military actions between Bulgarians and Hungarians in 903 - 907.

In the anonymous chronicle "Acts of the Hungarians" battles between Glad's army and the Hungarian army are described. The text gives evidence that Glad could wage his wars without any help from the central part of the realm and was able to sign independent agreements.
