The geological history of our land is quite complicated. The teritory of Bulgaria was either covered by huge seas or parts of land that broke about the waters as islands full of queer plants and fabulous fauna.

The Rodopi Mountains are part of the vast Tracian Macedonik massiff that covers the central Balkan penunsula. According to another legend these names were given by an Egyptian pharaon in honour of his beloved woman who was born in these lands. The precipice cabe called the Devil's George is 1,3 km to the Norht of the village of Trigrad. These thundering waterfalls are a hard test to anyone that dares intrude into this terrfic world. A legend says, it was here that Orpheus went under earth to the Kingdom of Hades to save his beloved Euridika. There is a man-made tunnel running through 150m. of the Devils's Gorge and togetjer with a number of flood lights make the severe under-earth world acceptable to anyone who wants to visit the Trigrad Gorge.

The Yagodina Cave - the longest in the Rhodopi mountains is located in the Canyon like valley of the river Buinovska, 2 km to the west of the village of Yagodina and 8 km away from the village of Trigrad.

The beauty of the numerous stalagmites, stalactites and dendrtes, leoprd skins and pearls make the cave a favorite spot fortourists. The sight Chairite is located 19 km to the east of the village of Trigrad. Six landslide lakes remains of the Quarternary with their picturesque flora and fauna are fauna are favorite site for the tourists.
