Temnata Dupka Cave

Temnata Dupka is the country' s most important Palaeolithic site, with artifacts and fauna in a sequence which may start as early as 130 000 BP. The Temnata dupka cave is located along Iskar river, at the distance of 52 km to the north of Sofia, in the Lakatnik karst region. The cave has two main galleries, connected by many transverse small galleries. The whole system is about 2 750 meters long. It is settled on four stories. There is a small flowing river at the bottom of the cave. Its catchment area is at the high parts of Osikovsko plateau.
