Great cultural heritage
The Assumption church is located in the center of the town. It was built in 1830 at the place of another old church. The year of the erection was hammed at a marble plate, put at the south facade of the church.
Historical museum Malko Tarnovo is settled in restored house and is a branch of the Bourgas museum.
Near to the town, only at the distance of 3,5 km. to the west of the town is located the fortress “Goliamo Gradishte”. It has the form of irregular circus (100 meters diameter). Here were found materials of the Rome epoch.
“Bratanova cave” – is located at about 9 km. northwest of the Malko Tarnovo town in the Trite dereta place. The name comes after the Turkish name of “bratan”, meaning, “branching”. In one of its galleries was found well – preserved gray – black clay.
The Thracian sanctuaries – at the town’s territory in the past here were found three sanctuaries. The first one was settled in the ex – catholic girl’s school. The second one is in the place of Pazlakat. And the third one was found in the southeast end of the town. One of the most impressive tombs and sanctuaries in the Thracian times is the tomb in the place of Mishkova niva (field). The tomb is located at the foot of the Goliamo gradishte, at about 3 km. to the southwest of the town.
The village of Brashlian is located 11 km. to the northwest of Malko Tarnovo. In the village one can visit St.Dimitar church – with its plan it is representative of the local culture architecture.
The Baluvata house is another architectural and historical monument. It was built in the XIX th century. The village of Mladejko is located at about 50 km. of Bourgas, near to the one of Mladejka river springs. There are inhabited caves at the village’s territory, named ”learnitsite”. The Goliamoto kale fortress – is located at 1,5 km. of the village of Mladejko. The fortification area is 41,5 dka. The village of Stoilovo is located at 8 km. to the north of Malko Tarnovo. In the village of Zabernovo one can visit the church “St. Luka” – the older survived church in Strandja – a cultural monument since XVII – XVIII th century.
