Bulgaria's Budget Deficit Hits 530 M Levs

Bulgaria's budget deficit end-2009 is 529.5 million levs which is 0.8 % of the GDP, reported the Bulgarian Ministry of Finance. Bulgaria is among the EU members with the lowest budget deficit which is telling of the Bulgarian Government's disciplined course of fiscal actions.

As a result of the measures the new Bulgarian Government has undertaken, the growth of the state expenses compared to the figures of last year was reduced from 23.8 % in July to 0.9 % at the end of the year.

The expenses for the year were 25.55 billion levs (1euro = 1.95 levs) or 84.2 % of previously planned. The measures for revenues growth led to lower deficit in accumulating resources for the fisc.
