Italian priest seeks Sofia incontro for drug addicts

Date: 16.10.2005

Italian priest Don Pietro Gelmini plans to open a shelter for drug addicts in the roundabouts of capital Sofia.

Gelmini has visited Bulgaria upon the invitation of Italian Ambassador here G.B. Campagnola and with the assistance of Bulgarian Centre for Psychological Research.

The Italian catholic priest, worldwide know as Don Pierino, is founder and leader of the Incontro communities, i.e. centres for the rehabilitation of drug and alcohol addicts.

Don Pierino is assured that each community is a prerequisite for establishing a communication-friendly medium suitable for inclusion of children and young people suffering from various addictions.

Pietro Gelmini's European tour has included Bulgaria where he is set to have meetings with officials from the State Agency on Child Protection and journalists.
