Bulgarian Govt., Europe's business plan key meeting

Date: 05.11.2005

Bulgaria's new government is planning its first meeting with the leading European industrialists, it emerged this week.

The conference with the European Round Table of Industrialists (ERT) will take place next March, and a high-ranked representative of the organization is already in Bulgaria to boost preparations.

The Solvay SA Public Affairs Ambassador Alexis Brouhns held meetings with Bulgaria's Deputy Foreign Minister Gergana Grancharova, the head of the prime minister's office Philip Bokov, Deputy Economy and Energy Minister Nina Radeva and other state officials as well as international diplomats.

On behalf of the ERT, Mr Brouhns has voiced support to Bulgaria's nearing entry into the European Union, the state radio reported.

Over the past years, ERT has held several meetings with Bulgarian government officials, providing a different view on the country's desirable steps towards business and economic progress.

ERT Members are chairmen and chief executives of major multinational companies, covering a wide range of industrial sectors, which have their headquarters in Europe and also significant manufacturing and technological presence worldwide.

The ERT identifies the most important issues, analyses the critical factors and makes its views known to policy-makers and the political decision-takers at national and European level by means of reports, position papers and face-to-face discussions.
