Over 8,000 people willing to leave Bulgaria each year

Nearly 8,000 Bulgarians are willing to leave their motherland each year in a search of better-paid jobs, data of the latest census in Bulgaria revealed.

The news was broken by Deputy Social Minister Dimitar Dimitrov, who also explained that some BGN 50,000 Bulgarians are currently living and working in Spain.

Dimitrov specified that the government is aware of the fact that the emigration problem could be solved by a complete improvement in the social and economic situation in Bulgaria.

He pointed out that the Social Ministry is working on different programs for education and qualification of the "risk groups" in the country.

When asked whether the Bulgarians abroad will return to the country, Deputy Minister Dimitrov said that it was a natural process, which was already underway. He explained that most of the people with low incomes and low qualification are looking for jobs abroad, whereas the people with high qualification are returning to Bulgaria to seek suitable business field.

The main destinations for the Bulgarians looking for better jobs are Spain, Germany, Greece and Portugal, the Social Ministry also announced.
