Crime Rate Goes Down

Date: 30.12.2005

Interior Minister Roumen Petkov announced thah 112,426 crimes had been registered in Bulgaria since the beginning of 2005, which was a decrease by seven percent compared with 2004.

This means that the families, which fell victims to a crime in 2005, are by 8,523 less than they were in 2004.

Despite these encouraging facts, the Bulgarians are generally dissatisfied with the security level in the country.

"We must not forget, however, that when there is a will to combat crime, there is a way and the results are already visible," said Petkov.

Yesterday, the minister congratulated the officers of the Sofia Regional Police Directorate and said that their job is one of the most demanding.
