Date: 24.02.2006

"The Belgian company Cumerio will invest 82 million euro in a copper production pant in Pirdop (central Bulgaria)," said in Brussels Luc Delagaye, CEO of the company owner of the Bulgarian plant. A new refinery for copper cathodes with an annual smelting capacity of 180,000 tons will be built in Pirdop. The capacity of the furnace will also be expanded to 20,000 tons annually. Thus, Bulgaria will become the biggest electrolyte copper producer in Southeast Europe and the main production center of Cumerio.

The Belgian stock exchange market reacted immediately to the news and the shares of the company rose by 10%. Cumerio is one of the leading European companies in the copper production industry. Its turnover for 2005 is two billion euro.
