Parvanov: The EU will benefit from Bulgaria's accession

Date: 26.02.2006

"I assured the Germans that Bulgaria has the ambition not to weigh on the EU but on the contrary, to reinforce the 25-nation bloc," said Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov in Berlin after his meeting with his German counterpart Horst Koehler.

"Our partners need not worry about the economic and social development of Bulgaria as well as about the security of the common European borders," Parvanov said further.

"Bulgaria has to satisfy the criteria of the European Commission," said Horst Koehler.
