German pensioners eager to live in Bulgaria

Date: 31.03.2006

German pensioners will be the first inhabitants of a new retirement home in the village of Vranino, Kavarna region, northeastern Bulgaria, according to Kavarna mayor Tsonko Tsonev. They will live in the reconstructed building of what was once the village school. The German pensioners heard of Bulgarian nature's beauty and decided to spend their retirement years in peace at the northern Bulgarian Black Sea coast. The new home will also welcome elderly people from Kavarna with priority.

A company based in the major Bulgarian Black Sea port of Varna has a partner in Germany. They submitted an offer to buy and reconstruct the building of the closed school. The planned investment will amount to about 500 000 levs (1 euro=1.95 levs). In May, Kavarna municipality will organize a tender for the school sale, setting as a first condition that the school should be converted into a retirement home for elderly people from Europe.
