Bulgaria Air sports new Boeing

Date: 19.04.2006

Flag carrier Bulgaria Air added Monday a new machine to its fleet - a Boeing 737-300.

The first of three new planes to join the ranks of Bulgaria Air, the Boeing was blessed by a priest who bode all passengers a safe fly on its wings.

Bulgaria Air has leased the plane for 5 years. The Boeing has landed 30,000 times under the logo of US United Airlines, and is quite well preserved despite 40,000 flight hours. Its interior has been kept and at present there are 148 seats on board. During the summer season Bulgaria Air will use this Boeing for its charter flights. Afterwards it will be redecorated, with a top class business lounge added.

Bulgaria Air's passengers in March of 2006 are about 25% more than those who chose the flag carrier in the same month in 2005, the company's CEO Zlatin Sarastov boasted after the new Boeing was introduced. The company is expecting to make up for all the traditional winter-time losses by May, he added.

Sarastov explained that Bulgaria Air is already working on developing various programs that would ensure a strong flow of passengers during the next winter season.
