Russian bankers invest in Pirin region

Date: 21.04.2006

"Russian bankers are ready to invest US $80 million into the infrastructure into the region of Pirin Mountain this year. The investments will be in hotels, hydro-electric power plants and roads," Blagoevgrad District Governor Vladimir Dimitrov said after a meeting with representatives of the Russian Foreign Economy Bank - Kremlin's financial institution, which serves the projects of the Russian Government abroad.

The guests are especially interested in the tourist sites in the towns of Bansko, Razlog, Sandanski and Gotse Delchev.

"Their intentions are more than serious. They asked me about the future construction of the Struma Highway, as well as about the gasification of the municipalities in the district. I showed them a long-term plan for development of the region," Dimitrov told Standart.
