Long-Experienced Bulgarians Get EU Jobs Off-Diploma

Date: 27.06.2006

Bulgarian craftsmen, hotel and restaurant workers, as well as professionals from food, tourism and movie industrymore than ten years of experience will be allowed to EU jobs without diplomas.

A new law passed at first plenary reading Wednesday outlines a dozen of occupations to benefit from this kind of eased labour access. Those include also mining and quarrying, timber and petrol industries, Bulgarian lawmakers decided.

To certify the work experience, the jobseeker will be required to present a valid certificate - instead of diploma - issued by a respective EU member authority. This certificate must be accompanied by the request to obtain it, the law says.

The legislation is in line with the European qualifications framework acting as a common reference for the recognition of qualifications.
