Three Compete for First Bulgarian Skyscraper

Date: 27.06.2006

Three projects were picked up as winners in the contest for visual design and functionality of the future - and first for Bulgaria - skyscraper to rise in Burgas, on the Black Sea.

Equal votes filled in the baskets of Professor Georgi Stoilov, Architect Atans Popov and Professor Tatarini from Lagos.

The favorite of the public vote, however, appeared to be the project submitted by Architect Dimitar Paskalev.

In three years, the needle-shaped building, projected to protrude the skies at 154 meters, should be cleaving the clouds over the Sea Garden, at about 50 meters from the beach.

The EUR 50 M skyscraper is expected to have 45 storeys, entrepreneur Vaklin Stoynovski, organizer of the contest, has earlier said.

All the three projects will be put on display in the building of the Burgas Open University.
