Two hundred companies want to build hotels, offices and restaurants in Bulgaria

Two hundred world leading companies are competing to win contracts for the construction of the US military bases in Bulgaria, offers have already been made for building of hotels, shops, offices and restaurants, informed the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria. Today and tomorrow the companies will discuss tender procedures that the US Army will start. Bulgarian, American, Turkish, Hungarian, Romanian and German companies will take part in the tenders. They include Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Motorola, Siemens and even Coca Cola.

"These companies are not interested in the US bases only but in the Bulgarian market as a whole," Valentin Georgiev from the American Chamber of Commerce told the Journey. Tenders will be announced in the end of 2006 and construction will start in the beginning of 2007.

Top US military officials and American business representatives will deliver lectures at the two-day conference. In September companies will be informed about the procedures of US Army procurement commissioning. By the end of the summer the concrete conditions for participation of Bulgarian companies in construction and supply tenders for the joint military facilities will be ready.
