Bulgarian Dancer Fascinates Milan

Date: 29.07.2006
A Bulgarian dancer has brought the Oriental dances to Milan, writes Giornale newspaper, quoted by BTA. Her name is Marina Dimitrova, but she performs under the stagename Chams, which means "sun" in Arabian. The "woman-sun" was born in Bulgaria, on the crossroad between Europe and the Orient, the article in the Giornale newspaper reads. For 20 years already she has been living in Italy, where she settled after leaving her Communist motherland. She had dreamt of seeing the free world and for seven years she lived with her husband in Liguria, working just to make both ends meet. After their divorce, radiant Marina returned to her real passion - the Oriental dances. She uses her dancing skills to break the invisible wall which separates the Italians and the immigrants, and to show the locals that the foreigners are not only drug dealers, prostitutes and criminals, but people who represent different cultures.
