Hungary Lets No Bulgarian Workers for 2 Years

Date: 16.09.2006

Hungary will not allow workers from Bulgaria and Romania at least for two years after both countries accede to the EU, said Peter Kiss, Hungary's Minister of Labour and Employment.

Nowadays 85 % of the illegal workers in Hungary come from Romania. Kiss pointed out restrictions will be lighter in the industry sectors where work force is needed.

Meanwhile Finland's Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen said his country would be open for workers from Bulgaria and Romania.
