Foreign Trade Deficit Reaches Five Billion Levs

Date: 15.09.2006

Bulgaria's foreign trade deficit for the first seven months of the year is more than five billion levs, according to data of the National Statistical Institute. This is by 20 percent more than it was over the same period of 2005.

There is, however, one positive change in the country's economy, namely that the export rates are higher than the import ones. For the first seven months of the year, the growth in export rates is 29.1 % or 13.24 billion levs, whereas the growth in import rates for the same period is 26.7 % or 19,47 billion levs. Bulgaria mainly exports goods to Italy, Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Korea, Slovenia, Saudi Arabia and Singapore.
