Sofia Christmas Tree Adorned with Children's EU Wishes

Date: 27.11.2006

Grand Hotel Sofia lit up a Christmas tree adorned with children's wishes for Bulgaria's EU future, on Thursday.

Art students from Sofia's Emiliyan Stanev School each wrote their wish for the country on a star and placed it on a tiny tree, a model for the big one that was lit up as soon as the rain stopped.

The Christmas tree, rivalling for the title of "the largest in Bulgaria" is 20 meters high and apart from the wish-bearing stars it is decorated with 570 lights, 50 colourful ornaments and numerous garlands.

Those who would like to also have their EU wish for Bulgaria shine on the tree can send it during the next two weeks and a new star will be added each time.
