Japanese Hospital in Bulgaria Throws Official Opening

Date: 29.11.2006

The Tokuda-Sofia hospital was officially opened Tuesday after it was licenced to practice medicine by Bulgaria's Health Ministry.

The official opening ceremony was attended by Economy Minister Rumen Ovcharov and Health Minister Radoslav Gaydarski.

I am extremely happy that I have the opportunity to attend the opening of the Tokuda hospital in Sofia, Japan's Ambassador to Bulgaria Koichiro Fukui said in Bulgarian.

I bid good luck to the hospital and the medical team working in it. I expect the hospital to serve as a successful example which to attract more Japanese investments to Bulgaria, he added.

This will be the most up-to-date hospital in Southeastern Europe. It will employ 1,000 highly qualified specialists and will have 1,000 beds. Over BGN 100 M will be invested in the hospital by mid-2008. However, it is expected the investments to exceed BGN 140 M.

Tokushukai Medical Corporation's owner Torao Tokuda holds a majority share of Tokuda Bank.
