Eight Share Bulgaria's Top Investor of 2006

Eight companies shared the awards of Top Investor of Bulgaria 2006 in an annual initiative to recognize the biggest contributors to the national economic growth.

The awarding ceremony in Sheraton Sofia Hotel Balkan was attended by Economy and Energy Minister Rumen Ovcharov, Interior Minister Rumen Petkov, Health Minister Radoslav Gaydarski, the country's business elite and numerous guests.

Organiser BulgariaInvest Agency has applied tough criteria to the projects submitted by nominated companies and municipalities. They were required to have BGN 1.2 B (EUR 600,000) and to have opened more than 14,000 job places.

High on the list was placed Tokushukai, which built up a multi-profile hospital in Sofia. Next came Maritza-East Mines in the energy sector and Belgium's Molexis for establishing a car electronics factory.

Bulgarian poultry producer Gradus, in the town of Stara Zagora was also recognised for its investment policy in a state-of-the-art factory.

The nine categories of the competition were also filled in by "Precis - Inter Holding", Optix, Blagoevgrad Municipality and leader in lubricant products Prista Oil.
