SkyEurope Expands Sofia, Varna Destinations

Date: 21.12.2006

Slovakia's low-cost airline SkyEurope opens direct flights to Bulgaria's Black Sea coast city of Varna, local media announced.

The regular shuttles to and from Varna will be carried out from the Vienna international airport Schwechat, every week day, except from Sundays, a company representative said.

The maiden flight of SkyEurope Airlines on the Vienna-Varna-Vienna dstination is fixed for March 26. It will be served by a brand-new Boeing 737-700.

Plans of the no-frills Slovakian airliner foresee a nearly double expansion of flights to Bulgaria in 2007.

As of September 11, 2006 it has already increased services from Bratislava to Bucharest and Sofia from four to six weekly flights per route.

Based on an ever increase demand for flights to Bucharest and Sofia, SkyEurope has adapted its flight schedule to create week daily connections.

Romania and Bulgaria have seen over the last two years a major upturn in their economies, fuelled by major investments from Western European companies, it was written in the message.
