Sofia likely to remain without hot water in the summer over strike

Date: 28.03.2007

Sofia’s heating utility Toplofikacia may suspend the hot water supply in the summer over a strike of its employees who demand higher wages, spokesperson of Toplofikacia’s Council of Trade Unions, Snezhana Gyoreva said. The Court of Arbitration is to pronounce its decision on the type of strike in three days. The decision is not subject to appeal. If the court gives a green light to an effective strike, the hot water supply in the capital will be cut by the time the demands of the protesters are met.

“We hope that the problem will be solved before we resort to this final measure”, Snexhana Gyoreva added.
