Another Sofia downtown street to turn pedestrian

Date: 30.04.2007

Sofia shoppers will have another street in the downtown all to themselves, members of the Municipal Council announced.

Graf Ignatiev street will be closed for cars starting July at the latest and only trams will be allowed if the Council nods the directive on Thursday.

They will discontinue the issuing of three-month-long talons that allow cars to pass down the streets and only those who still have time left on their stubs will be allowed through. This means that by July at the latest Graf Ignatiev should have joined Vitosha Boulevard and Pirotska in becoming a pedestrian-friendly zone.

The restriction will be valid from the street's crossing with Vassil Levski Boulevard all the way to the crossing with Vitosha.
