Bulgarian students in Grand America Hotel, Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

Date: 29.08.2007

Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake Downtown owned by Mr Earl Holding (one of the 200 richest Americans) has been growing as an elite global cultural image of our post-modern world . It was built especially for the Winter Olympics Games in 2002. Beyond the most representative guests of the hotel and numerous conventions, it hosts special events of Salt Lake and Sundays’ brunches, which are probably the best in the world. On the list of the events of Gibson Lounge one can see even Friday Jazz with Nicola Madison.

You may don’t even need to know that the Grand America is among the 100 gold granted best hotels in the world. It is enough to learn that a compact Bulgarian group has been working there, since the Bulgarians know well what is quality life and how to search for quality in their social environment. But this summer is a special – seven Bulgarian students have been working with J1 visa in Grand and Little America. As a warm complimentary amiability, the nice Eastern European accent can be heard in the gift shops, lounges and restaurants, also enriched by Russian, Romanian and Slovakian students – all J1 summer employees.

It is logical to expect that the International Institute of Anthropology in Salt Lake City  will find a favorite between the students. Daniela Krasimirova Marinova was granted with the world-wide popular Certificate of the Institute, for her excellent everyday expression of the European student and especially of the Bulgarian cultural elite image. She was born on 15 July 1986 in the city of Lovech (North Bulgaria). In 2004 Daniela graduated from one of the most prestige language schools in Bulgaria – the German Language High School located in her place of birth. That school was in fact founded after the Second World War as an American college. Daniela continued in the Veliko Turnovo University where she is a third year undergraduate student with major Marketing.

Last year the Bulgarian student worked with J1 visa in North Carolina. And luckily, this year the new program of the Grand America Hotel in collaboration with CIEE (Council for International Educational Exchange) placed her in Salt Lake. Being for a few months in  Utah, Daniela likes the best the city of Salt Lake, especially in the night. She is impressed by the politeness of her managers in the Lobby Lounge - Mark, Robin and Erika, while the friendly smiles of the guests, co-workers and of the Vice President of Grand America, Mr Bruce Fery, and the Director of the Hotel Operation, Mr Anthony Bartholomew, have made her days in Grand America Hotel the most enjoyable. Daniela thinks that the hotel where she works and where she wants to come back next year can become the best in the world. The Bulgarian student recommends an expansion of some places (for instance, the Lobby), more practical uniforms (especially for the Lobby Lounge), using all innovative technology (in particular for cleaning dishes in the kitchen) and the employees strictly to follow the rules of the hotel.

A month ago it was my pleasure to meet the parents of Daniela in Karlovo, where they came with French guests to have celebrated together the 170 Birth Anniversary of the greatest Bulgarian hero, Vassil Levski. The mother of Daniela, Kornelia Dobreva Marinova, is a Director of a school in the city of Lovech, and one of the most charming women that I have ever met. Probably the same some Lobby Lounge guests in Grand America have already said about Daniela. While other can go and enjoy her hospitality as a member of the strong student 2007 team in Grand America Hotel till later October 2007.
