Bulgaria's Bourgas airport sets record for plane maintenance

Date: 30.08.2007

The specialists at Bulgaria’s Bourgas airport on the Black Sea coast have set a record in simultaneous airplane maintenance.

Late on the evening of August 24 2007, specialists serviced five Ruslan airplanes simultaneously.

Ruslan airplanes are the biggest heavy freight cargo airplanes in the world.

The planes were on their way to Kandahar, Afghanistan, Kabul, Afghanistan, Charleston in the United States and, Sharon, France.

Bourgas airport executive director Kalin Barzov said that it took 2 to 3 hours to refuel the aircraft, as their tank capacity is 100 to 120 tonnes.

“This is an excellent example of how the airport is being managed in changing circumstances and how its capacity is being used,” he added.
