Cheap roaming in Europe before September

Date: 31.08.2007
Bulgarians will be able to talk as much as three times cheaper when in an EU member state even before September comes, it turned out after mobile operators Globul and Vivatel will have their new roaming tariffs effective as of August 30. Those of Mtel have been valid since August 27. The mobile operators had to decrease their roaming prices after the EU voted the new regulations in June as was proposed by European Commissioner for Information Society and Media Viviane Reding. The maxium tariff is EUR 0.49 for outgoing calls and EUR 0.24 for incoming ones. As of September all subscribers with activated roaming will pass automatically onto their tariffs. The regulation does not concern the SMS service and their prices will remain unchanged. Commissioner Reding has warned that if operators don’t regulate the prices themselves, the EC will interfere again.
