Bulgaria and Iran to co-operate in tourism and culture

Date: 10.09.2007

Bulgaria’s Deputy Foreign Minsiter Feim Chaushev and Iranian ambassador to Bulgaria Habibollah Biazar signed an exchange programme in the fields of culture, science, education, sport and tourism.

The programme is for a period of two years, between 2007 and 2009.

Chaushev said that the programme is main mechanism for regulation of the co-operation between the two countries in the fields mentioned.

The programme is based on an international agreement for cultural co-operation between Bulgaria and Iran, signed in 1967. The cultural co-operation creates preconditions for development of the dialogue between the civilisations, Chaushev said.

According to Biazar, the new agreement opened a new page in the relations between Bulgaria and Iran. Still, the bipartite co-operation should not be limited to only this programme, he said.
