Bill Gates invests in libraries in Bulgaria

Date: 09.09.2007

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Bulgaria’s Culture ministry will carry out a project for public access to information through the internet in more than 1000 Bulgarian libraries.

On September 11 2007, Bulgaria’s Culture Minister Stefan Danailov will meet representatives of the consultancy company Kissinger McLarty Associates, who work on the project.

The project, called Global Libraries, will be executed within three to five years, a Culture Ministry press release said.

Gobal Libraries aims to stimulate development of the public libraries in Bulgaria to become major information centres, as well as to provide wide public access to information and communication technologies.
