Bulgaria joins the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

Bulgaria’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivaylo kalfin signed in New York on Friday the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the press service of the Foreign Ministry informed. Minister Kalfin has signed the document on behalf of Bulgaria. The Convention was passed with a consensus by the UN inn December 2006. This was the first document approved and adopted in the 21st century, as well as the fastest agreed international instrument in the field of human rights.

With its joining the Convention, Bulgaria makes the commitment to continue its efforts and measures for preventing discrimination and giving persons with disabilities opportunities for fair education, employment and participation in the everyday life of the Bulgarian society.
