Bulgaria's drivers with their lights on day and night

Date: 04.11.2007

Bulgaria's drivers are required to have their lights on during the day as well for the duration of the winter months as of November 1.

Traffic Police is putting the start of the so-called "lights" road raid, and they will be issuing tickets to drivers who forgot about, or didn't adhere to the law change, adopted last summer. There is a courtesy period, however, with just warnings given the first 8 days of the raid that will last until November 9.

Drivers may also want to check their wiper blades too, for police can also fine them if these don't function properly.

Fines will start from BGN 20 and police will also check the state of the cars' tires.

The lights have to be kept on during the day too until March 1.
