Freed Palestinian doctor weds Bulgarian beloved December 1

Date: 10.11.2007

Palestina-born doctor Ashraf al-Hadjudj and his Bulgarian beloved Olya are already eager to say "I do" to each other and have officially announced they are to marry on December 1.

The couple is now engaged by the feverish preparations of the solemn ceremony that is to take place in Boyana Residency.

A total of 320 guests, President Parvanov, Prime minister Stanishev and parliamentary Speaker Georgi Pirinski among them, will attend the special event.

The couple have asked Sofia Mayor Boyko Borissov to officiate the marriage ceremony.

Ashraf and Olya invited Bulgaria's ex-Foreign Minister Solomon Pasi for their best man and the present EU Affairs Minister Gergana Grancharova - for a sponsor.

The young couple met a week after the groom was released from Libyan jail, where he spent eight hard years together with five Bulgarian nurses.

The proposal to the bride came about half a month later, when Ashraf has surprisingly asked her if she wants to marry him and received her affirmative answer at Sofia Airport.

"Would you agree to live with me forever?" the doctor asked. After a few seconds of silence, his sweetheart Olya, 30, smiled and just said "yes".

Then the Palestinian with Bulgarian citizenship gifted her with a golden engagement ring and a beautiful red rose.
