Sofia introduces video observation system on 3 pedestrian streets

Date: 09.11.2007

New system for video observation is to be introduced on three pedestrian streets in downtown Sofia until the end of the year, Deputy Mayor Velizar Stoilov announced on Tuesday.

Video cameras will be installed along Graf Ignatiev Str., Pirotska Str. and Vitosha Blvd.

The system will be connected to the video observation centre of the Capital Police Directorate.

The cameras are to help traffic control and strict following of the ban over car passing on the pedestrian zones.

The project is to be financed by Sofia Municipality as part of the money will be taken from EU funds.
