Bulgarians in Spain double in 2007

The number of Bulgarians and Romanians in Spain more than doubled from January to September 2007, Spanish Ministry of Work and Social Affairs said.

In 2007, the number of Bulgarians in Spain exceeded for the first time 100 000.

According to the Spanish Ministry of Work and Social Affairs, 113 792 Bulgarians were living in Spain.

Most of them, 56 618, were registered in 2007. At the end of 2006, the Bulgarians in Spain were a bit more than 50 000.

The Bulgarians were becoming the eighth largest nationality in Spain.

By September 30 2007, there were 505 670 Romanians in Spain. Romanians had become the second largest nationality in Spain, after Moroccans.
