Phare financed IT anticorruption portal launched in Bulgaria

Date: 24.12.2007

A new information system that will ease Bulgarians in tipping off on corruption cases has been officially launched on Friday.

The highly secured project, whose value is set at EUR 80,000, has been financed on Phare program.

"The portal includes a database for giving signals that allows a good coordination between the institutions engaged in fighting against corruption," said Nikolay Georgiev, a representative of Directorate Main Inspectorate with the Council of ministers.

The citizens could approach the authorities over such issues on the website

The employees, who will deal with the signals, are to submit e-signatures to guarantee their identities.

Each signal introduced into the system gets its unique number, which allows the citizens to follow the investigation on the case.

If there are several claims on one and the same problem, the authorities are to consider them as a whole.
