Borisov to close Kremikovtsi

Date: 28.12.2007

Boyko Borisov said that the shutting down of Kremikovtsi would be his number one priority. The construction of business centers in the place of Kremikovtsi and making the northern territories of Sofia more attractive for investors and living are another plan of Sofia’s mayor’s plan. The destiny of Kremikovtsi will be decided until January 15 2008.

Another issue discussed in the interview was Sofia’s waste problem. Boyko Borisov offered the construction of subway railway to the nearby town of Pernik, if the town would receive some of Sofia’s waste in its depot. After the construction of recycling factory in Sofia, the city would return the favour and recycle the waste of Pernik. The railway line Sofia - Pernik would reduce the traffic problems, since around 40,000 people travel from and to Pernik every day to their workplaces in Sofia. Thus Pernik would become a sort of a neighborhood of Sofia. In the meantime the new motorway Lyulin would be constructed and would ease the traffic of Pernik.

Borisov also said that in 2008 the municipal holdings would be restructured in order to decrease the corruption.
