Michael Shields sentence and non-pardon are lesson for all football hooligans

Date: 29.01.2008

In 2007 I pardoned 113 people, said Bulgaria’s Vice President Angel Marin.

Asked about the British football fan Michael Shields who was sentenced by a Bulgarian court, Marin answered: “I expressed my opinion two years ago – I said I would not pardon Michael Shields. Pardon is a serious act and it cannot be done just because someone had such an idea. For example, a politician who is trying to boost their rating, asking for a pardon. Shields’ sentence and non-pardon are a lesson for all football hooligans,” he added.
