Date: 26.11.2008

At 5:30 pm on Monday, the first Christmas lights in Sofia will be lit on Sofia's main shopping thoroughfare - the "Vitoshka" boulevard, while most of the downtown will be sparkling by Wednesday.

The decorations on "Vitoshka" are a donation from the Sofia municipality.

The lights will begin shining on Wednesday on the the "Brussels" boulevard in the stretch between the "Tsarigradsko Shose" boulevard and Sofia airport, on the "Maria Louisa" boulevard from the Central Department Store to "Luvov Most" (Lion Bridge) and on the "Todor Alexandrov" boulevard between "Maria Louisa" and the "Hristo Botev" boulevards.

The next stage includes lighting the Holiday decorations on the "Vasil Levski" and "Patriarch Evtimyi" boulevards and the area around "Ruski Pametnik" (Russian Monument.)

On Saturday, November 29, the Sofia Christmas tree will be officially lit in the park in front of the "Rila" hotel.

The Sofia municipality has contracts for sponsorship with over 40 companies for Sofia's decoration. More than 20 Christmas trees are going to shine in downtown Sofia this Holiday season.

The parks in front of the National Theater and the Military Club, the space near the Arianna Lake in Sofia's Central Park and the area around the fountain adjacent to the Presidential building are also going to have Holiday decorations.

The stretch between "Maria Louisa" and the Central Railroad Station as well as the one between "Vitoshka" and "Patriarch Evtimyi" to the National Palace of Culture are going to be decorated for the first time this Holiday season.
