Bulgaria's top 50 construction firms with BGN 2,7 B turnover in 2007

Date: 23.10.2008

Bulgaria's fifty largest construction companies had a total turnover of BGN 2,7 B in 2007, the Bulgarian Construction Chamber (BCC) announced Wednesday.

The Chamber has prepared its annual rankings of the top 50 Bulgarian construction firms, and is going to award the most successful of them at a special ceremony on October 24.

A total of 2 400 construction companies, which are members of the BCC, applied for a spot among the top 50.

The largest Bulgarian construction enterprise remains Glavbolgarstroy JSC with a total turnover of BGN 228,9 M. It is followed by Patishta ("Roads") Holding with a turnover of BGN 151,7 M, which is owned by the richest Bulgarian Vasil Bozhkov.

Glavbolgarstroy JSC is the leading company in the high construction field, whereas Patishta Holding is the number one in the infrastructure category.

The engineering company Enemona with a total turnover of BGN 56 M has been ranked first in the energy projects category, whereas Geotechmin is the leader in the public works field with a turnover of BGN 109,3 M.

According to the BCC, in 2007 Bulgaria's construction sector registered its usual growth of 15-16%. However, the chamber predicts that in 2008 the sector would be in stagnation because of the reduced volume of investments.
