One more day of Christmas, New Year's Eve holidays

Date: 22.11.2008

The Government added one more day of public holiday to the Christmas and New Year's eve holidays after declaring Friday, January 2 2009 a non-working day.

Now the total number of non-working days in the festive season is six days. Together with the two weekends in between, this adds to a total of eight public holiday days.

Christmas holidays will include the days between December 24 to 26, with December 31 2008 and January 1-2 2009 also being non-working days. According to the Labour Code, December 24 to 26 and January 1 are official holidays in Bulgaria.

To compensate for December 31 2008 and January 2 2009, the Government declared Saturday December 20 2008 and Saturday January 10 2009 to be working days.
