Turkey lifts restrictions on Bulgarian automotive freight carriers

Date: 03.12.2008

On the request of the Bulgarian Transport Minister Petar Dimitrov, extended to his Turkish counterpart, Turkey has agreed to lift the restrictions previously imposed on Bulgarian automotive freight carriers, the Bulgarian Transport Ministry's press center announced on Tuesday.

The Bulgarian carriers are going to be able to make two-way trips without paying fees.

The restriction baning Bulgarian cars with European emission standard level lower than Euro 1 (the so-called conventional or "black" cars) to enter Turkey has also been lifted.

The two Transport Ministers also reached an agreement setting the fee for all transit trips at EUR 43. Until now, transit fees were EUR 83.
