Sofia Residents to Face Steep Littering Fines

Sofia residents would soon have too pay fines between BGN 100 and 20,000 for different violations leading to the polluting of the city's public spaces.

The fines are going to be included in the new Sofia municipality order for keeping and maintaining cleanliness in public areas.

The order is already published on the municipality official website and is going to be open for public discussions in the course of a month.

The deadline for the removal of obsolete cars is extended to three months after notification from the municipality's respective Commission.

Individual violators would face fines between BGN 100 and 10,000 while businesses, who fail to remove their old, unused cars would be fined between BGN 700 and 20,000.

Sofia's residents would have to pay fines between BGN 150 and 500 for littering.
