New Bulgarian ambassador to Slovenia to continue promoting friendly relations

Date: 12.12.2008

Filip Bokov, the new Bulgarian ambassador to Slovenia, presented his credentials to Slovenian president Danilo Türk in a ceremony in Ljubljana on December 5 2008.

In the gathering after the ceremony, Türk shared with Bokov wishes for the two countries to continue on in their tradition of friendly relations, while underlining the benefit of their collaboration as members of the European Union and of Nato, a press release from the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry read.

Both countries also expressed the desire for development of two-sided dialogue and deepening of co-operation in “all areas of mutual interest” further down the line.

Bokov, a career diplomat who was also a representative in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe from May 1992 to June 1997, shared with Türk Bulgarian President Georgi Purvanov's initiative for a summit meeting on natural gas for Europe in April 2009 in Sofia. The press statement wrote that Türk expressed a “great interest” in the topic of the forum topic and was ready to participate in it.

Bokov also conveyed Purvanov's invitation to Türk to visit Bulgaria in 2009.
